MUDA 'scam' controversy deepens: New complaint filed against CM Siddaramaiah, son Yatindra

The controversy surrounding the Karnataka Urban Development Authority (MUDA) 'scam' has deepened, with a new complaint filed against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

A fresh controversy has erupted in Karnataka's political landscape as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his son Dr. Yatindra Siddaramaiah have been accused of attempting to destroy evidence related to the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam. 

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered a new case against the duo following a complaint filed by a man named Pradeep Kumar.

Pradeep Kumar, in his complaint, alleges that CM Siddaramaiah and his son were involved in the deliberate destruction of crucial evidence linked to 14 sites in the MUDA area. These sites were reportedly part of a larger land allotment controversy, with accusations of irregularities and illegal dealings dating back several years. The complaint claims that MUDA officials were complicit in this act, helping to retrieve and erase the evidence in question.

Kumar has also alleged that the Siddaramaiah family played a pivotal role in the cover-up and that these actions were carried out to avoid further scrutiny over the controversial land dealings. He has called for a thorough investigation into the matter and has demanded that a case be registered against those involved in tampering with the evidence.

Social activist Snehamayi Krishna testifies before ED 

Meanwhile, Social activist Snehamayi Krishna, the main complainant in the alleged Muda scam, appeared before the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday to testify and submit records related to the probe. Sources said Krishna was summoned to the Bengaluru Zonal Office of the ED to help in the probe launched against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The ED registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR)—equivalent to an FIR—on September 30 over allegations of irregularities in the allotment of 14 slots to Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati B. The Lokayukta police triggered Krishna’s complaint on September 27 against him the president, his wife and others.

When Krishna arrived at the ED office, he submitted all the requested documents and expressed his views. “They (ED) called me. I will send any documents requested,” he told reporters before entering the company premises.
