A fresh complaint has been filed against Siddaramaiah for allegedly destroying evidence in an alleged land scam case involving the Chief Minister's wife.

Despite Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi’s decision to surrender 14 sites to MUDA, the former should resign to enable free and fair investigation into the allegation, said Dakshina Kannada MP and BJP State general secretary Capt. Brijesh Chowta in Mangaluru on Wednesday.

GT Devegowda said no law dictates that a Chief Minister, who has been named as an accused in case, has to resign over the allegatioons.

Describing former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose birthday also falls on October 2, as a very honest leader and politician, he said the highest respect that one could pay to such leaders was to walk in the direction showed by them. 

He called on leaders of Karnataka and the Centre to focus on developmental works rather than seeking Mr Siddaramaiah’s resignation.
