Governor Seyi Makinde approved N80,000 as the new minimum wage for workers in Oyo state, as confirmed by the commissioner for information, Prince Dotun Oyelade.

Mr Oyelade said the new scale will be implemented as soon as the consequential adjustments process is completed by the committee which comprises top government and labour officials.

The measure will raise the hourly minimum wage to $20.24 beginning July 1 for large businesses.
