Mumbai News Live Updates: The fourth accused, Harishkumar Balakram, in the Baba Siddique murder case has been arrested on Tuesday in Uttar Pradesh. Police are currently searching for the third shooter, Shivkumar Gautam, in the killing of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique in Mumbai. So far, four individuals have been arrested in connection with the case — shooters Gurmail Baljit Singh and Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap, along with co-conspirator Pravin Lonkar. Authorities are now focusing their search for Gautam in places of worship in Ujjain and Khandwa, suspecting he may seek refuge there.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission is set to announce the schedule for the Maharashtra assembly elections on Tuesday. A press conference has been scheduled for 3:30 pm to share the details. The current term of the Maharashtra assembly concludes on November 26.

Weather updates: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday declared the withdrawal of south west monsoon from Mumbai and the entire country. “Southwest monsoon has withdrawn from the entire country today, the 15th October 2024. Simultaneously, the Northeast Monsoon rainfall activity commenced over the south peninsular India today,” said the weather bureau in a statement.

Baba Siddique killing: 10 cops who caught 2 shooters likely to be rewarded

As many as 10 police personnel from the Nirmal Nagar police station, who caught the two shooters who allegedly opened fire at NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui killing him on Saturday night, may soon get reward for their action.

Confirming the development, a senior police officer said that the process to reward the ten police personnel has been initiated. “ We acknowledged and appreciated their efforts on the local level and have put forward a proposal for the reward,” the officer said.

Among the ten police personnel are: Assistant Inspector R Dabhade, constables Sandeep Awhad, and Police Sub-Inspector Bankar, head constables Amol Pawar and Suhas Nalawde, constables Amol Wakade, Sagar Koyende, Mane, MSF guard Pawar. (Also Read)

Baba Siddique murder: Photo taken by accused at Juhu beach became the first clue in police probe

An officer said, “Immediately after the arrest of two, we checked their mobile phones and found a photograph of three persons on Kashyap’s phone. When we asked Kashyap, he told us that the trio who had been in the city for nearly a month had gone to Juhu beach as they had heard a lot about it. They got themselves clicked by a photographer and Kashyap took an image of the photograph on his phone. The photograph was helpful since it immediately gave a face for the third accused who was absconding and also proved the trio had been together.”

During further probe, police found that Dharmraj Kashyap (19) and Gautam (24) — both hailing from Bahraich in UP, had come to Mumbai from Pune in September first week. Within days, Gurmail Singh (23) reached Mumbai from Kaithal in Haryana. (Also Read)
