Apple has reached an agreement to acquire Pixelmator, the maker of popular photo and image editing apps Pixelmator Pro, Pixelmator for iOS, and Photomator. Financial terms of the deal wasn't disclosed.

Pixelmator, a Mac-centric professional photo editor, announced that it has agreed to be acquired by Apple, pending regulatory approval.

The lack of a professional image-editing app is an obvious hole in Apple's own app lineup. This plugs it nicely.

Pixelmator said there "will be no material changes to the Pixelmator Pro, Pixelmator for iOS, and Photomator apps at this time."
