There could be a Galaxy S25 'Slim' next year

by · Android Headlines

Do you remember back in the day when companies were racing to make phones as thin as possible? Well, it seems the world’s biggest smartphone maker, Samsung, wants to bring back the good old days. According to a new report, Samsung could launch a Galaxy S25 Slim next year.

This could be seen as a competitive move, as we’ve been following rumors regarding an iPhone 17 Slim launching. This device might remind us of the super-thin iPhone 6 and other iPhones from that era. Right now, information on that phone is still scarce, but it’d be exciting to see what the company releases.

Samsung could be working on a Galaxy S25 Slim

As always, you’ll want to take this news cautiously. We’re dealing with early information about a phone that won’t release for the better part of a year if at all. Anything could change.

According to ETNews, multiple insider sources point to Samsung working on a thinner version of the Galaxy S25. We’ve been hearing news about the Galaxy S25 series that should launch in January, but this Galaxy S25 Slim won’t be a winter baby like the other phones. The sources point to Samsung releasing this phone in April next year. This would put it smack-dab between the Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy Z7 foldables.

We’re not sure why Samsung wants to launch this phone in the Spring. This is just speculation, but Samsung might have thought of this as a response to the rumors of the iPhone 17 Slim. If that’s the case, then it may have started production of this device well after the standard Galaxy S25 phones, so this might have pushed the launch date a few months down the road.

Is this the right move?

Excitement for Samsung devices peaks during two parts of the year, and these are the Galaxy Unpacked events when it announces its Galaxy S phones and Galaxy foldables. However, Samsung could launch a device at a pretty arbitrary point in the year.

The company seems to know that it’s playing with fire, as it’s only planning on releasing this phone in “small quantities to gauge market response”. If the initial market response is positive, then we might see more Slim phones launch in the future.

The only question is when the company will launch these phones. Will it continue to launch them in the Spring or will it launch them during its Galaxy S Unpacked events? It runs the risk of cannibalizing its other phone lines in the process, so Samsung will need to be careful about it.
