Google issues urgent message to all Android users and says 'check your phone'
by Richard Guttridge, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/richard-guttridge/ · Birmingham LiveAndroid users have been sent an urgent message to check their phones following the release of a new upgrade. Google says the upgrade will fix over 50 bugs within the Android operating system.
The tech giant said two of the bugs were particularly serious and could potentially pose a risk to users. The threat has prompted Google to act quickly and people with Android phones are urged to install it as soon as possible.
"The Android Security Bulletin contains details of security vulnerabilities affecting Android devices. Security patch levels of 2024-11-05 or later address all of these issues," Google explained in an update.

Those targeted by the issues could end up becoming the victim of vicious spyware or have their devices hit by something called remote code execution which Google says is a ‘severe’ alert, the Mirror reports. This is where crooks can install dangerous software onto devices without needing physical access or the owner ever knowing.
"The most severe of these issues is a high security vulnerability in the System component that could lead to remote code execution with no additional execution privileges needed," said Google.
Users have been advised to check their setting as soon as possible as install the update when it becomes available to them.
