'I'm a light sleeper and £25 Amazon gadget is the only thing that helps me sleep through the night'

I've been a light sleeper for as long as I can remember, but all that changed when I discovered a £25 gadget on Amazon

by · Birmingham Live

Lying in bed, the ticking clock on my bedside table was a constant reminder of my struggle to fall asleep. Just as I would start to drift off, the sound of a car speeding past my house would jolt me back into wakefulness, writes Phoebe Barton for the Express.

This was my nightly routine until Amazon's £25 gadget came to my rescue - completely transforming my sleep quality.

In addition to struggling to fall asleep, I'm such a light sleeper that any noise during the night would rouse me - not ideal when living in a village. The early morning sounds of tractors and horses passing by, along with our neighbourhood cockerel announcing the break of day at 5am, were regular disturbances.

To drown out some of the noise, I began sleeping with an oscillating fan on. However, it wasn't entirely effective and certainly not ideal during winter months, as it turned my bedroom into an icebox. That's when I discovered the Easysleep Sound Machine from Amazon, priced at £24.99.

The gadget caught my attention due to its white noise feature, known for its effectiveness in drowning out sounds while trying to sleep. To my delight, upon plugging in the machine, I found it had multiple fan sounds, including one that mimicked my oscillating fan.

With 32 volume levels, the fan sound effect from the machine is much louder than my actual fan, aiding me in staying asleep.

The Easysleep Machine boasts a diverse range of 25 sound effects, from calming waves and tranquil piano music to lullabies and white noise, making it suitable for all ages. Initially purchased to aid my sleep, I often utilise it during my home yoga sessions, as the nature sounds create an ideal serene atmosphere.

The device offers five timer settings, varying from one hour to continuous play. I personally opt for the latter, requiring the fan sound throughout the night to ensure uninterrupted sleep.

It's astonishing when I turn it off in the morning, suddenly aware of the cockerel's morning greeting and the hum of passing cars - it truly masks all external noise.

Beyond its sound capabilities, the gadget also features a handy nightlight function with four warm brightness modes. This proves particularly useful for those who enjoy a gentle light while reading, or for babies or children who need both sound and light in their bedroom. The machine can be used solely for its sound or light function, depending on preference.

I find myself unable to go a single night without my noise machine, having depended on it for quality sleep for over a year now. Fortunately, its compact size and detachable wire make it easy to pack into my suitcase, holdall or handbag for holidays or trips away.

The only minor drawback to the device is a persistent small blue light that indicates it's on, which reflects onto the ceiling. However, this isn't a deal-breaker as I've positioned the gadget partially under my bed to ensure total darkness in my room.
