No Man’s Sky adds a game changing quality-of-life feature, eight years later

A new No Man's Sky update is here with cross saves, PS5 Pro enhancements, and the return of Mass Effect's Normandy ship expedition.

I’m constantly floored by No Man’s Sky‘s redemption arc. Over the last eight years, Hello Games has expanded and improved the universe-sized space game and shows no signs of slowing down. It’s a testament to the studio’s willingness to make No Man’s Sky the premier cosmic experience, despite the incredibly rough launch. While colossal, mechanically diverse updates are often the most impressive, there’s still value in smaller quality-of-life changes. That’s why the newest No Man’s Sky patch is one worth celebrating.

No matter where you play No Man’s Sky, progression just got a whole lot simpler. Hello Games has now introduced cross saves, which means you can finally jump between platforms and maintain the same account progression. The feature works between PC (on Steam, GOG, and Game Pass) PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch.

Hello Games says it is now ready to start rolling out cross saves to “a small number of players,” with the feature opening to all in the coming weeks. If you want to get involved with No Man’s Sky cross saves right now, simply head here.

Cross saves aren’t all that’s on the menu with this update, either. The No Man’s Sky Mass Effect crossover is back for N7 Day, bringing the famous Normandy SR1 with it. You’ve got until Thursday November 21 (that’s two weeks) to complete the relevant expedition and unlock the spacecraft. That’s more than enough time for anyone who missed the event back in 2021.

Okay, Hello Games isn’t quite done yet. With the PS5 Pro also out now, there’s a new and improved version of No Man’s Sky on that console. The game can be upscaled to 4K and 60fps, or 8K and 30fps if you really want to push the visuals. The PS5 Pro port also has improved lighting, reflections, and ambient occlusion, enhancing the universe even further.
