Amazon is offering a huge price drop on a ‘high-end’ 4K smart TV ahead of the Prime Day sale. The Amazon Fire Omni QLED 4K UHD smart TV has been reduced to £379.99 for the 50” model, a huge £270 off the usual £649.99 and the cheapest it’s ever been, according to price tracker camelcamelcamel.

Amazon also stocks a range of screen sizes from 43” to 65”, with prices now starting at £299.99. The deal comes as Amazon’s latest sales event, Prime Big Deal Days, is just days away.

The sale will see prices slashed on thousands of items with discounts on everything from tech to homeware in exclusive deals for Prime members and those on an Amazon Prime 30-day free trial. The Fire TV boasts a 4K QLED display that delivers ‘ brighter, richer and more lifelike’ colours than standard HD, with shadows and detail powered by Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+.

The Fire TV also offers voice control with Alexa, allowing users to turn on the TV, find specific shows and more without using the remote. There’s also the Ambient Experience feature, which transforms the screen into a canvas for displaying artwork, personal photos, Alexa widgets and more.

Built-in sensors ensure this is only active when someone is in the room so as not to waste energy and account for lighting conditions for the best image quality. The smart TV has four HDMI ports so you can connect a range of devices like games consoles and DVD players, or wirelessly connect Amazon Echo speakers using the Alexa app.

The Amazon Fire Omni QLED 4K UHD smart TV has racked up more than 700 four and five-star reviews. Users have said its picture quality is ‘perfect’ and ‘very detailed’, making it ‘absolutely worth the money’.

One impressed shopper said: “Absolutely worth the money. Found this when it was on sale and our old flatscreen was dying. Have to say even at full price it’s a bit of a steal. The colours, picture and sound are all absolutely on point. We’ve even spent some time rewatching old favourites on it because it’s so crisp and bright. The smart controls really make a difference, even in bright light. Easy to install and all-around a five-star product.”

Another said: “High-end TV at a bargain price. This is on par with my previous Samsung 4K and even beats it with the built-in features. The picture quality is perfect, clear and very detailed – the colours pop. The ambient feature is one of my favourites as it not only stops the screen going bad meaning it will last longer than other TVs but it also saves electricity by turning the screen off when nobody is in the room. The user interface is fast and the apps load instantly.”

A third happy customer added: “Fantastic TV. Set up was straightforward although updates took an inordinate amount of time to complete before I could get started. The picture quality is nothing short of startling. I am extremely impressed, especially for the price. I have set the TV up in my bedroom and only use it for streaming as I haven’t got an aerial connection or satellite box in the room. I was surprised by how lightweight the set is and found it easy to position and set up myself on a large set of drawers. The feet are just over a metre wide so need a substantial base if not wall-mounted. Highly delighted so far.”

However, despite leaving a four-star review, one customer said the Fire TV’s interface can be ‘sluggish’, writing: “Easy to set up, picture is good as is sound for a TV in a moderate price band. Interface is a bit sluggish and missing some conveniences on my old Samsung.”

For those in the market for a soundbar to compliment the Fire TV, Debenhams is offering big discounts in its autumn sale, including £70 off the LG SQC1 Bluetooth Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer for £129.99 and £45.04 off the Panasonic SC-HTB100 Slim Soundbar for £84.95.
