Heinz and Peppa Pig have teamed up to make the first snack designed to support early literacy. The Heinz Family x Grow with Peppa Pig Banana Biscotti are embossed with characters, objects, scenes and names from the children’s TV favourite including Peppa, Mummy and Daddy Pig, and George.

Little ones – with the help of their grown-ups - can use the biscotti to create unique picture stories with Peppa-inspired words and pictures.

Almudena Rein, Head of Baby at Heinz, said: “Snack time is now story time, thanks to this simple twist on one of our most popular products. Peppa fans of all ages can now create endless stories with just a single box of our delicious new Biscotti. It’s such a fun way for parents and little ones to connect and create an adventure together, whilst boosting their love of literacy in the process – things our research has found are hugely important to parents. And the best bit? You get to eat them afterwards!”

Early language and literacy expert Emma Spiers added: “Telling stories together is essential for early language development, and these Heinz and Peppa Pig Biscotti couldn’t be an easier way to get started! The appealing pictures and words embossed on each one provide busy parents and children with a simple and effective starting point for making up stories when it's hard to know where to begin.

"Language development is critical to making sense of the world, and the more words children know, the better they'll be able to express their thoughts, feelings and ideas. Creating simple, imaginative story adventures with these biscotti provides young children with plenty of opportunities to learn by listening and joining in, and building simple spoken sentences by putting words together. This is also a fun and relaxed way to practise talking and thinking through ideas - anytime, and anywhere.

“Research tells us that the more words and stories children know, the more success they'll have with all kinds of learning long-term - and this doesn't happen only through books. These biscotti are the perfect multi-sensory solution for bonding over a love of stories beyond books and screens. Great for parents and children to enjoy together, with lots of learning thrown in, too!”
