Conair just launched a Dyson Airwrap dupe for only $49

· New York Post

With the hundreds of blow dryers, hair straighteners and curling irons on the market, it can be a difficult feat to know which are worth the buy and which ones will be sworn-in lifesavers.

At this rate, I review hundreds of hair products each years. From handy blow dryer brushes to salon-grade shampoos, it’s hard to find a brand I haven’t put on rotation. The next best thing? Conair’s new Style Chemistry Styler.

As soon as I saw it, I knew it was going to be a Dyson Airwrap dupe. While there’s not a true dryer attachment, it’s styling attachments, including the viral spin wand and curling iron units, mimic the viral Dyson tools set that’s upwards of $600 — but this one is only $49.

Yes, you read that correctly. For hundreds of dollars yes, you’re essentially grabbing the near-exact same concept.

Conair Style Chemistry Styler

Conair

Conair’s base has a lightweight design and digital display for easy handling and control while styling. It also includes six heat settings. Its locking mechanism allows users to have a safe and seamless styling experience, which I appreciate. No attachments flying off, with that said.

At the time of publish, you can only buy the Conair Style Chemistry Styler at Target or Conair. The Starter Kit (includes the Base and CC attachment) is $49, the Deep Waves attachment is an additional $37 and all other remaining attachments are between $15 and $18 each. This a la carte option allows you to fully customize your styling experience. The complete set, if desired, is $167.53.

TARGET, STARTING AT $49.00

Our review

After using the Conair Style Chemistry to give myself a natural-looking blowout. Victoria Giardina

Pros:

  • Affordable and eliminates the need for multiple styling products
  • Helps give the ends of my hair a healthy, natural shine and bounce
  • Attachments heat up quickly
  • Simple and quick to use

Cons:

  • Additional attachments are sold separately, though still much cheaper than the Dyson Airwrap
  • Brush attachment doesn’t have soft bristles, so you must navigate your sectioned hair slowly to avoid it getting stuck
  • Doesn’t include a blow dryer attachment

As soon as I began using the Conair Style Chemistry Styler, I knew it was going to be the next great styling tool for budget-conscious shoppers. After blow-drying my hair with Drybar’s The Double Shot Blow Dryer Brush ($155), I began styling my hair with the Conair Base and Classic Curls Attachment.

I realized that it only took about five to 10 minutes to heat up completely, which is far quicker than some other heat tools in my collection. I love how the curling iron wrapped around each section of my hair perfectly, so much so that I didn’t have to use additional attachments immediately after.

Among all the attachments, I also enjoyed using the Beachy Waves attachment which is the closest styler to the beloved Dyson spin attachments. I used this the next day to refresh my hair — my usual routine I do with the Airwrap — and it looked great.

The one attachment I wasn’t too fond of was the Curls and Waves (spiral brush). Because it lacks soft bristles, it can end up getting tangled in your hair, as it did in mine. However, it’s still maneuverable, just not my personal preference. If you need to have a round brush, I’d recommend navigating it through your hair carefully and slowly. It may help to section your hair in smaller portions.

Uniquely, I do appreciate how each attachment is sold separately. The complete kit is $167.53, which is light years away from the $600 Dyson Airwrap.

This collection also boasts wonderful, even heat retention and convenient attachments. I didn’t know how much I’d love the Straight and Shine (1 in. flat iron) and Textured Waves (1 in. bubble wand) attachments. This eliminates the need for separate tools and even saves space in my bathroom.

As I’m in the process of moving and traveling a bit more, the Conair Style Chemistry is an all-in-one bundle that’s also terrific for on-the-go use. It doesn’t weigh as much as the Dyson Airwrap either, and I still can’t get over the starting price of $40.

For the money, the Conair Style Chemistry is surely worth it. The value is unmatched and it’s the kit I’ve been reaching for to style my hair the way I love, but also to experiment with new ways to curl and style my hair post-shower. You’ll want to add it to your cart ASAP as we anticipate it will sell out quickly.
