Drivers snap up night vision dash cam slashed by £90 now that nights are getting darker earlier

It might feel like everything is being filmed these days - from phone calls to every delivery at the front door, but for ultimate peace of mind, adding a dash cam to the mix can be worthwhile. And as the nights draw in, one with night vision mode would be extra helpful.

Amazon currently has the REDTIGER Dash Cam Front Rear, 4K/2.5K Full HD up for a major discount - it’s just £108.99, down from £199.99 - a whopping 46% discount. This nifty gadget can capture road signs and number plates - by light or dark - so you have all the details you might need if you're involved in an accident, or if something happens to your car once you’ve parked and taken the shopping in.

It even records audio, and connects to the REDTIGER app so you can replay any footage as and when you need to. With built-in GPS, it'll record valuable information like your location, route and speed.

It's clocked up an average of 4.3 stars from over 10,200 reviews on Amazon, and one customer was particularly impressed with the image quality: “Spent a lot of time deliberating what kind of dashcam to get. Many many scammy devices out there, but I'm pleased to say, this one is just the ticket. Its great picture quality up to 4k, so when you need to zoom in you can.”

Another reckons it’s a bargain: “The unit is installed and working well, it is particularly useful to have a rear camera as well. The design and look is modern and discreet. Excellent value for money considering all that is included, with great video quality, speed and connectivity features. Sound playback is clear and the features are accessible both within the unit and through the iOS app.”

A third said: “I waited a few months to write a review for this product to ensure its quality. The picture quality is truly remarkable, and I have not experienced any lag or issues with the video. The menu is user-friendly and easy to navigate, and the rear camera is a valuable addition."

One did note that installation can be a tad tricky, depending on your car: “I couldn’t really fault the camera itself. However actually installing the camera, trying to hide the wires is a bit of a challenge. You can follow a tutorial but the video really doesn’t apply to every car without pulling loads of trim back in your car. I really wish the camera was just powered by batteries or you can charge it up by a USB.” Another warned: "This product has no USB port to charge your phone along with camera power port."

Want someone to fit it for you? The Nextbase 320XR+ Front and Rear Dash Cam Bundle with 32GB SD Card is available for £169 from Halfords - you can pay an additional £80 for fitting. For a sleeker option, GARMIN's Dash Cam Mini 2 is currently available for £99.99 at Currys, down from its full price of £119.
