A driver ploughed their car into the windows of a Subway in Poynton on Saturday (October 5). Police were called to the collision at the restaurant on Liverpool Road.

Pictures shared by Cheshire Constabulary showed how the small Toyota Aygo smashed into the glass windows around the edge of the store, which is beside the car park for the Aldi supermarket.

No injuries were reported in the collision, which saw the glass windows left completely shattered and the driver of the vehicle 'a little shaken up'.

No further details about the incident have been confirmed. Officers from Cheshire Constabulary shared a short update on social media.

A post shared by Poynton West and Adlington police read: "We were called to a one vehicle road traffic collision where a vehicle had driven into a (thankfully) empty shop window.

"Remarkably the driver was uninjured although a little shook up. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the shop front."
