Tech fans race to buy huge 50 inch 4k TV slashed by 44% from £500 to £277 in early Amazon Prime Day deal

Getting cosy on the sofa in front of the telly is one of the best ways to spend autumn, especially when there’s so much on the box. Whether you’re a Strictly fan, Bake Off fiend, or need to catch up on streaming hits like The Perfect Couple on Netflix or The Bear on Disney, it’s only fair to want a decent quality picture.

But if you were counting down until Black Friday to upgrade to a nice new big screen, there’s no need to wait until November 29 - Amazon has an ace deal you can take advantage of right now. It’s offering the highly-rated Hisense 50 Inch VIDAA Smart TV for £277, down from £500, which is a whopping 45% discount.

Promising “crisp, vivid” colours, whatever you’re watching, it also packs in all your streaming platforms, be it Netflix, Apple TV+ and YouTube, on one easy to use page, so you’ll never be short of things to watch. And if you’re a film buff, besides enjoying your favourite flicks on the immense-size screen, the Theater sound mode makes for a more cinematic experience - just add your own popcorn.

This is for the 50 inch model from 2023. If you did want a bigger (or indeed smaller) TV, there are plenty of options for various prices - you can also choose the more up-to-date 2024 model, and select add-ons like a soundbar and TV set-up for a bit more cash.

More than 500 people have given their verdict on it, and with an average rating of 4.4 stars, there are more than a few happy customers. One was impressed by the price point: “I always believe you get what you pay for. But this TV was for our bedroom and the picture quality is great for the price. We have a more expensive one downstairs in livingroom which is better yes. But 4 times the price better. You would have to be extremely into your tech to say yes to that one. Really happy with the functionality and picture. Sound is good too for a flat screen.”

Another said: “I was so impressed with this TV that I got rid of my 32 inch LG 4K monitor that I use for work and gaming, and replaced it with one of these. The HDR is incredible for gaming and looks excellent on Xbox and PS5.”

Amazon has slashed the price of the Hisense 50 Inch VIDAA Smart TV.

“The set-up is very easy, whether done manually or using the app, we are contemplating a 2nd purchase for our 2nd reception room,” adds a third. “I've used this TV for a couple weeks now all the settings are easy to use, it's superb. A really good bargain.”

Some users have encountered a few minor issues, with one highlighting that “the remote is a little clunky”. While another notes: “Only problem I have with it is the cable seems awful short. So when hanging on the wall the plug doesn’t meet our electrical socket." Handy to know if you are planning to wall mount the telly, rather than place it on a unit.

Have a bit more budget to play with? The LG 50UT81006LA 50" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV is currently £399 from Currys and uses AI tech to adjust screen brightness depending on how light the room is - so even with the big light on, the picture should pop. While at AO, the Sony X75WL 55" 4K Ultra HD Smart Google TV is £699 and has in-built parental controls, ideal for making sure the kids are watching age appropriate stuff.
