Samsung Makes Surprise Free Device Offer To Galaxy S24 FE Buyers

Despite only releasing the Galaxy Watch FE in June, Samsung is already giving it away for free with Galaxy S24 FE purchases.

This deal only applies to shoppers in the U.K. and the offer runs until October 31st. Frustratingly, Samsung isn’t adding the Galaxy Watch FE automatically into the cart when going through the Galaxy S24 FE checkout process, instead, buyers have to visit Samsung’s claim site.

To qualify, prospective Galaxy S24 FE buyers need to submit their claim within 30 days of the purchase, provide proof that the handset was bought from a participating retailer, which includes most major U.K. shops, handover the device’s IMEI number and then wait for up to five days for approval. Samsung says that if approved, the device will be posted within 45 days.

It’s a lengthy process with a few hoops, but this is a good deal because ultimately shoppers are getting a free Galaxy Watch FE worth £199 ($260.07). This also isn’t the first time Samsung has given away a free device with purchases of a smartphone.

In April, the Korean company bundled the (then) newly released Galaxy Tab S6 Lite with qualifying Galaxy S24 purchases. To pick that up buyers had to go through a similar claims process.

Giving away a free watch (or tablet) is probably a reflection of the Galaxy Watch FE’s lower position on the popularity charts in comparison to the Watch 7, Watch 6 or Watch Ultra. Samsung was giving away the Galaxy Watch FE for free in some European territories back in June.

If you were planning on purchasing the Galaxy S24 FE, then this is a nice and unexpected freebie. But I’m not entirely convinced that it’s worth buying the handset just for a free mid-range watch. Samsung has repeatedly discounted almost all of its handsets throughout the year, and as we inch closer to the Galaxy S25 launch those price cuts will only be deeper and become more frequent.

Just a few days ago Samsung had discounted the Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra by $200 and $300 respectively. Right now the base Galaxy S24 comes with enhanced trade-in prices and all three handsets received heavy discounts during Amazon’s Prime Day sale.

Samsung has also run promotions in September, August, July and other months, so don’t feel pressured to pick this deal up because another will almost certainly come along soon.
