TSB banking app goes down leaving thousands unable to access accounts

Due to a major technical error thousands of people have been left unable to access their online banking app. TSB has been experiencing widespread outages with Down Detector, which monitors site outages, having seen over 2,100 reports of issues this morning.

As reported by the Mirror, the problems seem to be with the mobile banking app and the banking giant's banking website. At around 8am this morning reports of issues began and they continue to be ongoing.

The high street bank has confirmed problems in a post on its X - formerly Twitter page. The bank said: "We're sorry that some of our customers are facing problems accessing our services this morning. Our teams are working to resolve this."

TSB customers have taken to social media to share their frustration. One X user said: "Still not working today, same problem as everyone else has posted here, cannot login to Internet banking website using browser. Session token error message, repeated cookie pop ups and logs me out when I click on anything. Please advise how this can be fixed as soon as possible." Another said: "The @TSB app is down or being updated more times than it is working."

A third added: "Well done @TSB on my pay day of all days when I need to pay all my bills I can’t. Because you’ve decided to mess about with the app and I can’t approve payments. Cheers.” A fourth said: "@TSB what is going on??? I’ve got bills needing paid and apparently not only is the app out of action again I’m being told I have no accounts!!!" A fifth said: "I see the @TSB mobile app is doing what the @TSB app does, not working…again!"

Other users have also highlighted that they struggled to connect with customer services for help when the issues began. One user said: “It’s one thing to have technical issues, but if it’s followed up by no available customer service or a public statement/update… well, that really shows your true colours as a company I guess.”

Today’s glitch comes two weeks after TSB apologised to customers after many were left without benefits and salary payments for hours due to a systems error. Today's outage is the latest in a series of recent technical glitches at UK banks, with Lloyds Bank and Natwest experiencing issues just weeks ago. TSB has not elaborated on the reason behind the outage.
