Condensation on windows banished 'forever' with cleaning fan's 80p hack

Mrs Hinch cleaning fans shared their best tips to get rid of condensation.

Condensation is often the main culprit behind mould in homes, particularly when the weather turns nippy.

Fungus, including mould and mildew, thrive in moist environments. Not only are they an eyesore, but they can also cause significant damage to your interiors and even knock down the value of your property if left unchecked.

Ensuring that indoor humidity levels are under control is essential for mould prevention. This problem typically manifests at windows, notorious for being condensation hubs, despite the presence of double or triple glazing.

Come morning, droplets of water on windows are a common sight. The latest buzz is about a miracle product touted by cleaning enthusiasts as the ultimate solution for banishing window condensation once and for all, reports the Express.

Kymberley Folliard shared her frustration within a Mrs Hinch cleaning group on Facebook: "Window condensation. How do you all manage to wake up every morning without it? It's on every window at the front of my house and it's quite bad."

Buying a separate dehumidifier for each room wasn't a viable option for Kymberley. Her post quickly attracted a plethora of advice from numerous devotees of Mrs Hinch.

Among the responders, one emerged with a straightforward, cost-effective solution. "I don't know if anyone's put this. But when I had this it was really simple. There are little vents in the window frame. Once I opened these I didn't have it anymore."

Another offered her advice, saying: "We've had this recently and I've found leaving windows on the latch all the time really helps. We've also bought some of the small dehumidifiers and have sat them on the windowsills."

The conversation about damp homes often includes tips for using dehumidifiers, though they can be costly. A third, however, shared her success with more affordable solutions, praising Amazon's interior dehumidifier crystals: "See them £1 or £2 dehumidifiers they work a treat!"

If you don't want to increase your energy usage by popping on the heating or an electric blanket, then a suitable alternative is the Silentnight Heat Genie Self Heating Mattress Topper. Better yet? It costs absolutely nothing to run.

Said to "retain heat throughout the night", this mattress topper boasts a three-layer construction to keep you cosy. The unique heat reflective foil, thermal lining and deep-filled quilted top ensure you will be "cosy all night."

Since it uses no power and works off your own body heat, it's an energy-efficient product that will keep you warm without costing a penny. It can be bought in four sizes - single (£24.99), double (£29.99), king (£32) and super king (£44.99.)
