3 Upcoming Kia And Hyundai Electric Cars In India Next Year
by Team GaadiWaadi · GaadiWaadi.comIts raining EVs and the Koreans don’t want to be left in the dust. This is why they have plans to launch EVs in piping hot segments with products like the Creta EV, Carens EV and Sonet EV
Even though there is a global slowdown, all the manufacturers are doing everything they can to sell as many products possible to recover from the fall. With the increase in charging infrastructure and a greater number of people adopting the EVs after getting to know more about them each day, the Korean manufacturers are preferring to introduce more EVs into the mix to pull back the customers into their showrooms. Here are the upcoming Hyundai and Kia electric cars that will be launched soon.
1. Hyundai Creta EV
Hyundai’s Creta EV will be launched early next year. The exterior design is based on the recently launched facelifted Creta, the electric SUV’s test mules have been spotted several times. It is expected to use a 45-60kWh battery pack with the power output rated at around 145 bhp and 255 Nm of peak torque. The interiors will be premium and maintain the standards of the current version although it will get an updated centre console, grey and black dual-tone theme, and a 3-spoke steering wheel.
The design will be familiar to the ICE-powered Creta Facelift, although with some EV-specific touches like a closed front grille with an integrated front camera, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and newly designed alloy wheels with arrow inserts. It is expected to launch in the first half of 2025 with its debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, and once launched, it will rival the likes of the Tata Curvv EV, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX and MG Windsor.

2. Kia Carens EV
The Kia Carens EV has been confirmed for 2025 and this is set to bring in more excitement in the EV space. The design will be similar to the ICE version but not the current model as even the ICE version will be updated by next year and there are high possibilities for both the ICE version and the EV version to be launched together. The feature-list is expected to be quite long on both the versions and they may get updated safety features like Level-2 ADAS.
There are no other details revealed about the Carens EV and only recently it was spotted testing along with the Creta EV near Varanasi. After spotting them together, we believe that they maybe sharing the same battery pack and motor, which means it will get around 45-50kWh battery pack and a FWD motor. Once launched, it will go up against the recently launched BYD eMax7.

3. Kia Sonet EV
The Kia Sonet EV is expected to be based on the facelifted version that was launched in India in January this year. It could get EV-specific changes such as a blanked-off grille, new alloy wheels, refreshed front and rear bumpers, and new paint options. Details about the interiors are unknown while it may get a slightly improved design over the current model.
Kia India currently retails two EVs in the local market, namely the EV6 and the recently launched EV9. These will be joined by the Carens EV early next year, and is likely to be followed by the electrified Sonet. The car could have a battery pack paired with a single electric motor and a range of approximately 400km on a single full charge.
