You can choose to be stealthier when going after the Sea of Thieves achievements once Sea of Thieves' Season 14 arrives next week. The free update arrives on October 17, adding the option to crouch, disguise yourself, and more.

Sea of Thieves Season 14 sets sail on October 17

When Season 14 arrives, you'll be able to crouch to make yourself less visible and noisy, with the chance to sneak past potential enemy encounters and the bonus of hiding your nameplate from enemy crews. What's more, if you're crouching while on a ship, you can also quickly hop over the side to hang from the edge and hide.

Season 14 also adds Merfruit — something to eat to give you a brief window in which mermaids won't hang about to help you, so you won't be as obvious if trying to sneak onto an enemy ship.

You'll also be able to make use of Disguises to hide in barrels or treasure chests. If you complete specific Commendations, you can also disguise yourself as any number of fancier treasure chests.

New weapons include the blowpipe, which comes with black powder darts, lure darts, and poison darts. The lure dart can fool enemies into thinking there's treasure, so you can set up an ambush, but you can also shoot enemies with it to attract skeletons and other beasties to attack them. Then you've got traps as a throwable weapon, which you can also bury to try and avoid other players disarming and stealing them. There will also be a grapple gun, which can even be used to board enemy ships.

Season 14 also adds new commendations with rewards such as shipsets and weapon cosmetics, 100 levels of rewards for seasonal progression, a Plunder Pass, and new Pirate Emporium items. Season 14 arrives on October 17. In the meantime, don't forget to check out some of the other best Game Pass games!
