Players defending the Imperium for the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 achievements can look forward to another free update for the Xbox third-person shooter next month. The developer has revealed that Space Marine 2 will get a new Operation and enemy type in December via a free update alongside the first Season Pass cosmetic drop: Dark Angel Chapter Pack.

As revealed in the latest Space Marine 2 monthly update from Focus Entertainment, an update is being prepped to add the Neo-Volkite Pistol for Bulwark, Assault, and Vanguard players soon. It sounds like we could see it arrive sometime this month. The controversial Update 4.0 seemingly dropped out of nowhere last month, so we might see this one arrive in a similar fashion in the coming weeks.

"The Neo-Volkite Pistol is a thermal weapon with accumulative damage," Saber says. "Its heat rays have a deadly impact on organic matter, incinerating flesh into ash with explosive force and jets of flame. A weapon of choice against Tyranids!"

As for the Dark Angel Chapter Pack, the first of several cosmetic drops planned for Season Pass owners, it's planned to arrive sometime in "early December." Interestingly, it'll arrive alongside another free update featuring a new Tzaangor Enlightened enemy type and a new Demerium-set Operation called Obelisk.

The team has also said that it's in the process of reworking Blocking weapons so they're more satisfying to play with. Responding to some player requests, Saber also says it might "consider" adding a way to replay the campaign's prologue in the future, but the team is "currently not thinking about adding new campaign missions." It does sound like the upcoming private Eternal War PvP lobbies could let you increase the party size alongside customizing the score limit, time limit, class limit, and more, though, so that's pretty cool.

Space Marine 2 quickly became the biggest Warhammer 40K game launch on Xbox when it released in September, and Saber says that 4.5 million players have jumped in to slaughter Tyranids and Chaos so far.
