Mahindra Last Mile Mobility has launched the Mahindra Zeo electric small commercial vehicle (e-SCV) in the less than 2-ton category, at a starting price of Rs 7.52 lakh (ex-showroom). The company claimed that customers can save up to Rs 7 lakh more in seven years with the Zeo in comparison to a similar diesel model.

The Mahindra Zeo uses a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which delivers 30kW of power and 114Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a 21.3kWh liquid-cooled battery, which has a seven-year/1,50,000km warranty. The new e-SCV has a claimed top speed of 60kmph. Although the payload capacity is up to 765kg, it can be enhanced with a bigger 2,250mm cargo box.

Mahindra claimed that the real-world driving range of the Zeo is 160km on a single full charge. With a regenerative braking system, the range can be increased. The vehicle has two driving modes -- Eco and Power. With a DC fast charger, it can be charged to deliver 100km range in 60 minutes. There are different charger configurations available, with the on-board 3.3 kW unit provided as standard.

The new Zeo has 32% gradeability, which is the highest in the less than 2-ton electric cargo segment, and a 4.3-metre turning radius. It has a 2,500mm long wheelbase and a 180mm laden ground clearance. There are hill hold assist and creep features as well. Inside the cabin, you get features like a type-C USB charging slot, a lockable glovebox and a fully digital instrument console.

Mahindra is also offering Nemo telematics unit with the Zeo. Through the Nemo Driver or Nemo Fleet Management System apps, customers can access real-time data to optimise performance and efficiency. In the latter, fleet managers can also check for fleet performance, geofence, service management and charge summary amongst other functions. In the Driver app, drivers can locate the nearest public charging hubs, nearest dealer, trip planner and service locator, among others.

The new Zeo has a driver monitoring system (DMS), which uses an AI-enabled camera-powered ADAS. It has a suite of features like lane departure warning, headway monitoring, driver behavioural analysis and pedestrian collision. The battery pack and motor of the e-SCV are IP67-rated.
