Tata Nexon iCNG launched in India at Rs 8.99 lakh

Tata Motors today launched the Nexon iCNG at a starting price of Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tata Nexon iCNG is India's first turbocharged CNG passenger vehicle (PV) and takes on the Maruti Suzuki Brezza S-CNG.

With the launch of the iCNG version, the Tata Nexon is now available in petrol, diesel, CNG and electric avatars. Introduced in India in 2017, the Tata Nexon crossed the sales milestone of 700,000 units in June this year.

Beating the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Mahindra Scorpio, the Tata Nexon has been the largest-selling SUV in India in the previous three fiscals at 1,71,697 units in FY24, 1,72,139 units in FY23 and 1,24,130 units in FY22.

The Tata Nexon iCNG uses a 1.2-litre turbo bi-fuel (petrol and CNG) engine, which delivers 100PS of maximum power and 170Nm of peak torque. As of now, only manual transmission is available. However, the vehicle might get an automatic option in the future.

The SUV offers direct start in CNG mode and a single ECU, which enables automatic switching between petrol and CNG. The vehicle has a 60-litre CNG tank, while the mileage is claimed to be 24km/kg.

The Tata Nexon iCNG boasts features like a panoramic sunroof, leatherette ventilated seats and 10.25-inch infotainment screen by Harman, 10.25-inch fully-digital instrument cluster. With its twin-cylinder technology, the vehicle gets segment-leading boot space of 321 litres.

The Tata Nexon is a 5-star safety-rated vehicle. It offers advanced safety features, including tech such as leak detection, fire protection device, thermal incident protection and rear impact protection.
