Mrs Hinch fans share genius hack for drying clothes in winter without using a tumble dryer
by Sarah Magliocco · RSVP LiveWinter brings its own cosy charms like roaring fires, twinkling Christmas lights, and the perfect excuse to snuggle on the sofa all evening. But it also presents a challenge: keeping up with the laundry.
Normally, we can hang our clothes outside to dry, saving energy and infusing them with that fresh outdoor scent. But what happens when you don't have a tumble dryer, or want to avoid high energy bills from using one all winter?
Drying clothes on radiators isn't ideal as it can lead to mould growth due to the humidity released into your home.

Enter the wisdom of the social media cleaning community, which has been thriving lately, especially among fans of cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch.
In a Facebook group dedicated to her, a user named Lucie posed a question that many grapple with: "How do people get washing dry without a tumble dryer in the winter? ! " She added, "We have so much washing but getting it dry is such a problem! " Lucie's query received a flood of suggestions, but one stood out as the clear winner: using a dehumidifier.
Families both with and without tumble dryers, as well as those living in apartments or homes lacking them, have found a clever solution in using a dehumidifier to ensure their clothes dry swiftly—bypassing days of dampness or any musty smell. Amanda shared her method, "I use a normal clothes airer with a dehumidifier, it dries faster than my tumble dryer."
Echoing the sentiment, Claudia remarked: "I just bought a dehumidifier and it's great, money well spent."
Claire contributed to the praise, adding: " Dehumidifier. We get bad condensation so have one anyway."
She elaborates on her approach, "I hang it in the utility room, shut the door and a load is dry in four hours. I do have a tumble dryer but dehumidifier is a lot cheaper."
