Amazon launches better than half price tech offers ahead of Prime Big Deal Days sale

Bestsellers including Fire Sticks and Fire Tablets have been discounted to their cheapest ever prices, with discounts on Echo Dot and Echo Pop smart speakers too

Amazon has launched a raft of early discounts on some of its most popular devices ahead of its huge Prime Big Deal Days sale next week.

The event is set to take place on October 8 and 9, with prices expected to drop on thousands of products from tech and household essentials to fashion and beauty - perfect for getting ahead on Christmas shopping. The deals will be available exclusively to Amazon Prime subscribers, but non-members can currently take advantage of a 30-day free trial of the service, which is usually priced at £8.99, to access the offers at no extra cost.

And before then, prices have already been slashed for all shoppers on a range of Amazon devices, including Fire Tablets, Echo smart speakers, and Ring home security essentials. Among the biggest savings to be had are on the Amazon Fire TV Stick, which has dropped from £44.99 down to £16.99 - its lowest ever price, according to price tracker CamelCamelCamel.

At this price, the TV Stick is a no-brainer for anyone who loves bingeing all their favourite TV shows and movies in one place, as it can simply be plugged into your TV to turn it into a smart TV with access to all the biggest streaming services, apps and live channels. It is also equipped with virtual assistant Alexa so you can search and control content using your voice.

The latest Echo Dot smart speaker has also been reduced to its lowest price this year, from £54.99 down to £22.99, although it was previously discounted even further to £17.99 during the Black Friday and Christmas sales last year. This most recent 5th generation model promises "big vibrant sound" for your music, podcasts and audiobooks, with the ability to link up to compatible smart home devices and also featuring Alexa voice controls.

Meanwhile, the latest Echo Dot Kids, which is designed with parental controls and includes a one-year subscription to Amazon Kids+ offering access to educational books, interactive games and more, has dropped in price from £64.99 down to £27.99. And the Echo Pop, a more compact smart speaker available in four stylish colours, is also less than half price at £19.99 reduced from £44.99.

Another gadget down to less than half price is the Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet, now £44.99 reduced from £99.99 - its lowest price in nearly two years. For little ones in the household, the Amazon Fire HD Kids tablet has also seen its price slashed from £149.99 to £64.99 - its cheapest price ever since it was launched in September 2022 - while a cheaper option for the grown-ups is the older Fire 7 tablet, also down to its lowest ever price of £29.99.

Amazon is also beating tablet offers from other big brands over on the high street - Currys is offering £220 off the Apple iPad Air 2022, bringing its price from £649 down to £429, while the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has also had £90 knocked off its price at £259 reduced from £349. However, Amazon is offering the iPad Air even cheaper for just £329, while the Galaxy Tab Lite can be snapped up for £199.
