Inside Mark Zuckerberg's style transformation after his 40th birthday

by · Mail Online

Mark Zuckerberg seems to have amped up his spending habits and personal style with a major makeover.

The notoriously frugal tech tycoon, who turned 40 in May, is embracing his next decade with a brand new attitude.

Earlier this month, Zuckerberg was spotted wearing a De Bethune DB25 Starry Varius wristwatch during a podcast taping in San Francisco.

According to Yahoo, the Facebook founder's timepiece may be worth upwards of $95,000.

The flashy purchase seems to be inspired by a lavish wedding that Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan attended for Anant Ambani, the son of the Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani.

A clip from the nuptials shows Zuckerberg admiring the watch, before saying, 'You know, I never really wanted to get a watch, but after seeing that, I was like, you know, "Watches are cool."'

In the late 2010s, Zuckerberg was public enemy number one when he was grilled in Congress about selling data and personal information of up to 87 million users to companies.

He was pale, sick-looking and often times awkward, donning a simple T-shirt and jeans with most of his social media photos being just of him and his family.

His new look - which consists of designer duds, longer hair and a slight tan - is certainly a change from before.

While he's always had a very simple and casual style, the Meta mogul has recently taken to wearing trendy chains around his neck.

He's also started to design some of his own clothes alongside American fashion designer Mike Amiri.

At the Acquired podcasting recording this month, Zuckerberg rocked one of his own custom T-shirts.

'I started working with people to design some of my own clothes,' he explained.

'I've kind of started working on this series of shirts with some of my favorite classical sayings on them,' he continued.

Pointing to his oversized black tee, Zuckerberg then said, 'So this one is "patha mathos" - learning through suffering.'

In addition to making his own fits, the entrepreneur has also started to embrace designer brands.

In June, he rocked a Balmain T-shirt worth $1,150 while on vacation with wife Chan and a group of their friends in Ibiza.

The group spent time on Zuckerberg's mega-yacht, which is worth around $300 million.

Fans have also noticed recently that the social media kingpin is in better shape than ever.

He's been working hard in the gym and training with MMA fighters, which has given him a considerably buff and muscular physique.

On top of that, Zuckerberg seems to be sporting a slight tan these days to give his pale skin a healthy golden glow.

Last month, the 40-year-old unveiled a bizarre statue of his wife.

He shared a photo of the monument, which appeared to be made of oxidized green copper and steel, on social media.

'Bringing back the Roman tradition of making sculptures of your wife,' he wrote.

Zuckerberg did not give any indication as to what had inspired the act of love, but friends and followers were quick to hail the gesture.

TV star Gayle King replied: 'Wow! Is there a backstory here or just Tuesday night at your house?? PS. Do you have an older brother who is black I could meet... asking for a friend.'
