Yankees fans who interfered with Betts' catch are banned from Game 5 of the World Series
NEW YORK (AP) — Two New York Yankees fans who were ejected from Game 4 of the World Series for interfering with Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts have been banned from Game 5 on Wednesday night.Betts leaped at the retaining wall in foul territory and caught Gleyber Torres’ pop fly in the first inning Tuesday night, but a fan in the first row with a gray Yankees road jersey grabbed Betts’ glove with both hands and pulled the ball out. Another fan grabbed Betts’ bare hand.“Not good. There’s no place for that. It’s as simple as that,” New York manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday. “Come here, cheer, root for your team, whatever. No place for that. Should never have hands on anyone.”The Yankees called the behavior “egregious and unacceptable.” The team said the fans involved are season-ticket holders, and the club gave their Game 5 tickets to Calvin Young, a pediatric cancer patient who lives in New Jersey, and his family.Young, 15, was unable to attend a kids-only news conference at the ballpark in September…

Dodgers claim their eighth World Series title
LOS ANGELES - The Dodgers didn't get a parade after winning the World Series in 2020 because of the COVID. This year will be different. For the second time in five seasons, the Los Angeles Dodgers are World Series champions. It took a supremely ugly Game 5 Wednesday night to get them there. Entering with a 3-1 series lead but perhaps more than a few nerves after a rough loss to the New York Yankees in Game 4, the Dodgers fell behind 5-0 before a chaotic comeback put the Commissioner’s Trophy in their hands with a 7-6 win. It is a win few observers saw coming when the postseason began, even with one of the most talented lineups in baseball. With a rotation ravaged by injuries, the Dodgers overwhelmed opponents on offense and got just enough quality pitching to make it work. Freddie Freeman, who homered in a record four straight games to open the Fall Classic, was named World Series MVP after the game.
