Derby County win sparks 'livid' Coventry City response amid 'shocking' verdict
by Leigh Curtis · Derbyshire LiveDerby County secured their first away win of the season as a double from Jerry Yates earned a 2-1 win at Coventry City.
Yates opened the scoring after 11 minutes when he pounced onto a poor backpass from Jack Rudoni to slip in the opener. And the striker added a second after the break when his shot took a deflection to beat Oliver Dovin.
Tatsuhiro Sakamoto set up a tense finish with a shot from outside the box but Derby held on to record a valuable away much to the delight of 3,000 travelling fans.
Coventry fans were less than impressed with their own side's performance and having been tipped to challenge for promotion this season, are in mid-table. And their supporters had plenty to say about their performance. Here's what they said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Nick Henderson: Deserved nothing, got nothing. I'm absolutely livid, what a terrible performance. As bad as I've seen it this season. (marginally better in the 2nd half but clutching at straws really). The scary thing about it is that you feel another similar performance isn't very far away.
Rob McArthur: Supported and followed CCFC for 40 odd years, that without doubt the worse 75 minutes of football I have ever witnessed.
LiveyCov: "No passion they wanted it more from the 1st whistle our play was so slow shocking performance, players will come out with excuses but that was woeful."
Natalie: "A very poor performance. No creativity, too much passing back, not enough forward attacking play and sloppy passing. A bad game all round but hopefully we will learn from it and come back better to beat Sunderland at the weekend."
Jordan Motlib: "Got exactly what we deserved, shocking."
