Paul Warne unleashes duo as he names Derby County team to face Coventry City
by Leigh Curtis · Derbyshire LiveDerby County head coach Paul Warne made five changes to his starting XI as he went in search of a first away win of the season at Coventry City.
Nat Phillips, Dajaune Brown, Callum Elder, Kenzo Goudmijn and Liam Thompson all started the Championship clash with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Craig Forsyth, Joe Ward, Marcus Harness dropping to the bench and Ben Osborn missing from the squad.
Those changes are set to see a shift in formation from 4-2-3-1 to 3-5-2, a system Warne has employed already for Derby this season at league leaders Sunderland.
In goal is Jacob Widell Zetterstrom behind the back three of Phillips, Curtis Nelson and Eiran Cashin. Kayden Jackson will play as a right wingback while the midfield trio will consist of Ebou Adams, Thompson and Goudmijn. Callum Elder will supply the width having been deployed at left wingback.
Up front Brown will partner Jerry Yates as the strikeforce, the first time the duo have started a game up front this season and Warne will hope they can deliver their first away win of the season in the Championship.
On the subs bench, there is plenty of options for Warne with James Collins, Sonny Bradley, Tom Barkhuizen, Kane Wilson, Forsyth, Mendez-Laing, Harness, Warrd and goalkeeper Josh Vickers.
Derby (3-5-2): Zetterstrom; Nelson, Phillips, Cashin; Jackson, Adams, Goudmijn, Thompson, Elder; Yates and Brown.
