Aston Villa pair follow Jhon Duran as they sign new long-term contracts

Aston Villa youngsters Triston Rowe and Jamal Jimoh-Aloba have penned new contracts at the club

Aston Villa have confirmed that young pair Jamal Jimoh-Aloba and Triston Rowe have signed new deals at the club. Jimoh-Aloba only arrived at Villa from West Bromwich Albion as a highly rated prospect last season and he has now agreed a long-term contract after an initial 12-month agreement last year.

Jimoh-Aloba is only 17 but played for the Villa under 21s in the EFL Trophy win at Fleetwood and Unai Emery last month gave him his senior debut by giving him a run-out in the EFL Cup win at Wycombe Wanderers, after a summer in which he'd been involved with the first team in pre-season.

“Over the last 12 months Jamal has developed into a regular for our Under-21s, which led to him making his senior first-team debut in the Carabao Cup against Wycombe recently at the young age of 17," head of academy Mark Harrison said. “Jamal has also represented England at Under-17, Under-18 level and is on standby for the upcoming Under-19 fixtures against Portugal, Netherlands and France.

“Jamal has shown real potential as a midfielder who can manage the ball and carry it forward with an attacking threat. This contract is a well-earned reward for Jamal’s development since he joined us and the potential the club believe he has to develop into a first-team player. We are delighted to see Jamal sign a new long-term contract.”

Like Jimoh-Aloba, and indeed striker Jhon Duran who agreed a new contract on Monday, a deal which runs all the way until 2030, fellow academy prospect Rowe has committed his long-term future, too.

Rowe, like Jimoh-Aloba, signed for Villa from Albion back in 2021 and he has been a regular in the academy sides while he was also in the squad at Wycombe in the third round of the EFL Cup.

“We are delighted Triston has signed a new long-term contract with the club," Harrison said of Rowe. “He made his Under-21 debut as an Under-16 and since then has continued to feature for our Under-21s on a regular basis, which led to him being named in the first-team squad for our Carabao Cup tie at Wycombe.

“Triston has also made a number of appearances for England at Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level. As a right-back who has excellent defensive qualities and has also become a threat going forward, this contract is hard-earned reward for Triston’s development as well as the potential the club feel he has to develop into a first-team player.”
