Carlos Corberan addresses West Brom goal drought and makes 'control' pledge ahead of Luton

Carlos Corberan is confident West Brom can break their goalscoring duck after back-to-back goalless draws. Shutouts at Blackburn and at home to Cardiff have come at a cost with no goals scored at the other end either.

The Albion manager said: "I like when we don’t concede many goals. In 12 games we have kept seven clean sheets and it was a shame we conceded late at Oxford because then it would be eight and I think this is an important value.

"The fact you don’t score many goals can be down to a lack of chances or because there are good opportunities but you can’t find a way to score. It is more the latter for us if we analyse the last games we were playing.

"I cannot tell you we did not have enough chances. It is maybe true against Millwall, when we had a lot of the ball but did not create much. In the other games, maybe against Middlesbrough, we did not create key chances. In the other games, in summary, we have been creating more chances than we have been conceding.

"The thing in football is to always concentrate on what you can control. When you create chances with crosses you need to get players into the box. If you cross with only one striker in the box it is more difficult than if you have three.

"The next important thing is the quality of player arriving. For me we have players who, if they arrive in the box, they will score goals. I don’t think it is a problem with the quality of our players.

"We are doing well because against Blackburn we analysed every crossing position and had more players in the box than we did against Millwall. In that game we saw in some moments we had a lack of players in the box.

"Always the last action you can work on, but you can never replicate in training what happens in a game. We had some very near misses against Blackburn and Middlesbrough. In football you always must have confidence these things will arrive. We need to do more to make it happen because in the last few games we have not scored enough goals."

On the challenge of Luton, Corberan added: "They have a squad with players who should not be in this position. But in the Championship this year it is hard because there is a big, big group of teams of a similar level.

"Luton are a team who have been suffering injuries. For me they are very different at home than when they play away. Their pitch is a very specific pitch which has its own demands."
