Manchester United look to have been given a lift ahead of playing Aston Villa with midfield talent Kobbie Mainoo fit enough to train this morning.

While Villa drew at newly-promoted Ipswich Town on Sunday, United took a battering against Tottenham at Old Trafford, losing the game 3-0. Mainoo limped off in the early stages and was a doubt to face Villa.

However, Mainoo was spotted today amongst Erik ten Hag's squad taking part in an open training session

Reports claimed he went for a scan on Monday but there has been no update since. However, according to The Athletic's Laurie Whitwell, the influential youngster seems to have overcome the issue that forced him off during the defeat to Spurs.

He also states that defender Harry Maguire has returned to training after missing that last fixture, whilst midfielder Mason Mount missed out. He was also substituted at the weekend, his problem a cut to the head, but it has been confirmed his absence is only precautionary - not related to concussion.

While Villa are in Champions League action against Bayern Munich tonight, the Red Devils go to Portugal to face FC Porto in the Europa League on Thursday.
