Aston Villa accelerate Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara comeback plan

Aston Villa will reportedly take part in a behind closed doors friendly against Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday

by · Birmingham Live

Aston Villa play a behind closed doors friendly against Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday, in a game which is expected to see more minutes for recovering pair Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara.

Villa pair Mings and Kamara have both been out for a number of months apiece - for the former, it's now well over a year he has been sidelined - with respective and serious injuries, but both are now on the comeback trail and both played 45 minutes over the weekend in the PL2 clash with Newcastle United at Bodymoor Heath.

Villa are using the international break to put to good use the break in domestic action and have reportedly arranged a friendly match which will help Mings and Kamara continue their progress as they look to re-integrate themselves back into the first-team squad and into Unai Emery's plans.

It may also explain why the side which went north to take on Bolton Wanderers in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night was quite as young as it was; Villa visited the Toughsheet Stadium without a host of players who'd downed Fleetwood in their first Trophy match, with players like Lamare Bogarde, Jamal Jimoh-Aloba, Ben Broggio, Travis Patterson, Sil Swinkels and Kerr Smith absent from proceedings.

It's likely, then, that those players will be involved against the Owls, who have taken seven points from their last week before this international break; Danny Rohl's side beat West Brom and Coventry City and collected another point in between at Bristol City.
