Rangers great and football pundit Ally McCoist received his OBE from Prince William at Windsor Castle on Wednesday - and the pair may or may not have discussed Aston Villa during their encounter!

Talk Sport presenter and TV commentator McCoist, who played just shy of 600 games for Rangers as well as managing the club for three years and earning 61 caps for Scotland during his playing days, received the honour for services to football and broadcasting.

"Such a proud moment for myself and my family, I am humbled to be receiving my OBE from Prince William at Windsor Castle today," he posted. "Thank you for all the support and messages it means so much. Did we speak about @AVFCOfficial ?? That’s between the Prince and I."

McCoist, 62, did reveal that the topic of tonight's game between Villa and Bayern Munich in the Champions League at Villa Park - which The Prince of Wales is intending on attending this evening - did arise during their conversation.

“I think the fact that we had met before and chatted before was a good degree of comfort,” he said. “It was great, it was special. You sometimes worry will there be things to say, will there be things to talk about, but he puts everybody at ease. I really enjoyed the couple of minutes’ conversation we had.

“I’m obviously well aware that the prince is an Aston Villa fan – they’ve got a very, very big game tonight, which I think he’s going to. So we spoke about that, and just generally working in broadcasting and life, really.”
