SALT LAKE CITY — Check back for the latest scores from all the Week 8 high school football games across the state.

KSL.com Sports' Game of the Week: Skyridge at Lone Peak

Why did we choose this game?

As we draw closer to the end of the regular season, we're starting to see some separation from teams in the hunt for a region title. And on Friday, Region 3 powerhouses Skyridge and Lone Peak get the chance to take a big step forward toward claiming a title.

It's a bout between two undefeated teams in region play looking to take the next step. The winner of this game almost certainly has the inside lane on the title as the only remaining undefeated team. The loser will still have a chance, but it will mostly be out of their control.

Lone Peak has only lost one game on the season — a game against a tough Centennial team in California — but remains undefeated in the state as the No. 1 team in the KSL.com Top 20+1 rankings.

But the Knights face a Skyridge team that is almost identical in scoring stats this season. Lone Peak averages 34.1 points per game, while Skyridge averages 31.4. On defense, the two teams are neck and neck, with Lone Peak allowing 19.3 points per game and Skyridge allowing 19.6.

Lone Peak is at home, so will that be the deciding factor? We're excited to see how this one turns out.
