Here is how we rated the Bluebirds players at Ashton Gate following the 1-1 draw in the Severnside derby.

Jak Alnwick 7

Made two fantastic early saves from Sinclair Armstrong and as cool as you like with his feet. Undisputed No.1 now.

Perry Ng 6

Had a few balls played in behind him but generally did well up against a well-functioning attack. Outjumped by Luke McNally for the Robins' goal.

Dimitrios Goutas 6

Lost out in a couple of early duels with Armstrong but got his own back with some strong challenges, both in the air and on the floor, after that.

Calum Chambers 6

Read a couple of dangerous passes over Bagan well. Was shrugged off one ball by Armstrong which led to a decent chance but otherwise OK.

Joel Bagan 7

A little bit negative with the ball at his feet, at times, but generally very assured and kept the tricky Yu Hirakawa very quiet. Another assured outing.

Alex Robertson 7

Dictated the tempo of the play well in possession but positionally just let his opposite number wander once or twice. But he's a superb addition to this midfield and his passing range makes a real difference.

Joe Ralls 6

Similarly to Robertson, let the Robins' midfielders run off him once or twice. Generally tidy with the ball and battled hard, as you'd expect.

Ollie Tanner 8 (star man)

Scored an absolute stunner to get Cardiff going and then was involved in three huge attacks thereafter. Really cementing his place in the side.

Rubin Colwill 8

Was so often an outlet for Cardiff, getting them up the field when they had been pinned in their own half. Set up Tanner for his goal and really should have returned the favour when he sent one wide from close range from a Tanner cross.

Anwar El Ghazi 6

Still a way off seeing that spark. Had the best chance of the first half when he poked an effort from just yards out into the outside of the post. A fit-and-firing El Ghazi buries that, one would argue.

Callum Robinson 6

Made clever runs down the channel and drew out Bristol City's centre-backs. Had one shot deflected wide before the break and his half-hit effort led to the above El Ghazi chance.

Subs

Jesper Daland (El Ghazi 66) 7 - Good to see him back and hardly put a foot wrong when he did come on.

Callum O'Dowda (Robinson 66) 6 - Made a couple of decent defensive and attacking contributions after his introduction.

Andy Rinomhota (Ralls 77) 6 - Battled hard there in the middle of the park with some effectiveness.

Wilfried Kanga (Tanner 77) 6 - Made one or two fantastic defensive contributions, but hardly saw him at the other end.

Manolis Siopis (Robertson 84) NA

Yakou Meite (Goutas 90) NA
