Michael Schumacher reportedly made his first public appearance in 11 years last week by attending his daughter's wedding in Majorca.

The Formula 1 legend's condition has been shrouded in mystery for over a decade after he suffered a severe brain injury in a skiing accident in December 2013. Schumacher had been skiing in the French Alps when he fell and hit his head on a rock, with the crash cracking his helmet in two and leaving him in a medically induced coma for several months.

Since then, he has received round-the-clock medical care from his wife Corinna and a team of medical professionals at their family home on Lake Geneva. With Corinna fiercely protective of her husband's privacy following the accident, little is known about his condition with only a select group of friends and family allowed to visit him.

However, according to reports in Germany, the former racing driver was in attendance to watch his 27-year-old daughter Gina Maria marry Iain Bethke at a lavish ceremony at the family's villa in Majorca last Saturday. It is believed that guests were told to leave their mobile phones at the door to ensure that no unauthorised photos of Schumacher were taken.

Of course, the 55-year-old is a legend of his sport, having won a record-setting seven Formula One World Drivers' Championship titles - to this day only tied by Lewis Hamilton - and set a string of other records over the course of his 17 years at the highest level. With Ferrari, he won five consecutive Championships between 2000 and 2004, while he also drove for Jordan, Benetton and Mercedes.

Unsurprisingly, such success made him one of the highest paid athletes of all-time, as he earned over £820 million during his time in F1. At the peak of his career, he was believed to be earning a staggering £82 million a year, with his current net worth estimated to be around £500 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

With such an enormous fortune, Schumacher made the decision to finalise his last will and testament at the age of 41 as he decided to return to F1 in 2010. In doing so, he made a poignant statement about the possibility of something happening to him "in everyday life"..

In an interview with a German magazine, he said: "Yes, I have made my testament because I am a family man. But it is less about Formula One but because of the things that can happen in everyday life."

The round-the-clock care that Schumacher has received since his accident has been reported to cost as much as £115,000 a week, with Corinna reportedly forced to sell his £25 million private jet and holiday home following the accident.

The racing legend's wife is also believed to have built a £10 million medical suite at their home so he could leave hospital in 2014, while she purchased the £2.3 million Majorcan villa - once owned by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez - in 2018
