James Haskell has opened up about the accident with Mike Tindall that resulted in a hospital visit earlier this week.

The former England star alarmed his followers when he posted footage from his hospital bed on Wednesday, arm supported by a sling. At 39, the ex-rugby union star had gotten hurt trying to replicate a social media craze where one spins another person in a circle.

While observing the original stunt alongside Tindall, aged 45, Haskell remarked: "Speed is key." Get the latest Welsh rugby breaking news by signing up to our free daily newsletter here.

Unfortunately, their attempts to execute the trick didn't go as planned, reports the Mirror. Footage on their podcast's Instagram account for The Good, The Bad and The Rugby illustrated their challenge; Haskell managed to tip Tindall over but struggled to right him again. Yet, what began as fun ended with James in A&E needing an operation for a ripped bicep.

Accompanying the Instagram video, the show's team jested: "How Hask tore his bicep......We're sorry @jameshaskell! " The post was met with laughter from fans, one said: "Years of Rugby and a torn bicep after lifting Mike," while another quipped: "Almost Olympic standard guys lol."

One more exclaimed: "This wins the internet today!"

Another person echoed the sentiment, adding: "That's hilarious I can't stop laughing. I love it. Thank you for making me laugh tonight."

The video surfaced following an update from Haskell confirming his positive condition post-surgery with a hospital bed video. He detailed the incident: "On Monday I ripped off the bicep tendon off my bone on my left arm. I mean, I wasn't even training, it was filming some content stuff and the first two times it was absolutely fine and the third time I changed my grip and I just ripped it off the bone. I don't know what I thought, but essentially, without getting into details, I put 109kg through one arm and it just snapped and the sound of it is horrific."

However, he offered assurances to his followers: "I'm in good hands, I've had surgery quickly, back on the rehab bus. I will track it obviously or show you what I am doing. I am going to still try and train when the wound heals, I will still carry on with my body transformation albeit on one side..." And boldly stated: "I will still DJ one handed!"

Scores of fans and colleagues offered their encouragement, with broadcaster Will Perry remarking: "I always preferred your left arm anyway. Chin up mate."

A sympathising fan commented: "Ouch! Get well soon."

While another advised: "Rest up champ."

The injury has occurred just before his holiday with ex-wife Chloe Madeley and their two-year-old daughter Bodhi. The former couple announced their separation last October after five years of marriage, amidst the airing of their ITV reality series Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair.

Speculation about their relationship status was rife until they confirmed their split in joint statements.

In a lengthy post, they stated that their "sole focus" was now on Bodhi and "we shall continue to co-parent with nothing but love."

A year after their separation, Chloe spoke about their co-parenting arrangement. "We have found a way to do it, but it's not always great. We have really hard times with it sometimes," she told Closer Magazine.

"We also still argue, there's no denying that and it'll probably be this way forever. But James and I, whatever our disagreements, are adamant that we won't weaponise Bodhi or use her as a bargaining tool."

Chloe's famous father Richard Madeley recently disclosed that the pair will soon be going on a family holiday to France together.

"Chloe is very happy, she and James are going to France together, they have a very happy uncoupling," the Good Morning Britain star informed The Sun. "It's a very civilised relationship we see a lot of James, he's at the house quite a lot, either with Chloe or without."

He added: "It's a very civilised divorce."

Haskell enjoyed a successful rugby career before transitioning to a TV personality, his first notable appearance being on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me out of Here!

in 2019, although he sparked controversy by calling his fellow campmates "stupid". He was the fourth contestant to be eliminated and has since pursued a career as a DJ, performing in Ibiza and releasing his own music.
