Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City news for Thursday, October 10.

Reach open to opportunities

Adam Reach says he's open to opportunities since his release from West Bromwich Albion, as he bids to earn himself a contract at Swansea City.

The 31-year-old, who has nearly 400 appearances to his name, is training with the Swans alongside fellow free agent Cyrus Christie over the international break, having been released by the Baggies in the summer.

Whether the winger is seen as a genuine option to strengthen the options available to boss Luke Williams remains to be see, but Reach says he's ready to start the next chapter in his career.

"We're in a weird kind of paradox situation right now," he told the Football League Paper. "The longevity of a player's career is going up because we can all stay fitter for longer. But at the same time, there's been a shift in transfer policy where the players clubs want to sign are getting younger and younger.

“Physically, I've still got potentially six, seven, eight years left. But when teams are focusing on players under the age of 23, that makes 31 sound quite old.

“It's kind of a scary situation. Okay, you're not going to be able to flip me in two years' time and make a profit of £10million. But there are other components to building a team, like experience.

"I'm going through ups and downs. Ultimately, I love football. It's a little bit daunting and a little bit demoralising when the phone doesn't ring. But, you've just got to hope someone eventually thinks I'll be the right fit somewhere."

Stoke singles out Swans star

Stoke City boss Narcis Pelach has heaped praise on Swansea City captain Matt Grimes following Saturday's 0-0 draw at the Swansea.com Stadium.

While unable to unlock the Potters defence during what was a frustrating afternoon, Grimes attracted glowing praise from the Potters boss.

"Matt Grimes is such a good player, he dictates the game and plays very well," Pelach said. “It’s difficult to compete against them and I know that because with Huddersfield, with Norwich I played against him [Grimes] that it’s tough.

"To see a good battle, two teams trying to get a win, I think it was nice to see.”

Swansea return to action after the international break with a trip to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, 19 October, before heading to Sheffield Wednesday three days later.

Williams hails 'incredible' Vigouroux

Luke Williams says goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux has been a big part of Swansea City's defensive success this season, but says there could well be more to come.

Vigouroux is currently away on international duty with Chile, who are set to take on Brazil in a World Cup qualifier on Friday, and has played every minute of the season so far under the current Swans boss.

“He has been top,” Williams said.

“He didn’t play for quite a while so he is jumping back in at the deep end and I couldn’t be more happy with him.

“I have known him since he was a young player on loan [at Swindon] from Liverpool, but he’s really matured as a man and as a player.

“I think he has a way to go to improve his distribution for example. But I am really very happy to have him here.”

Vigouroux has conceded just six goals in nine league games, and statistics suggest he's prevented more goals than any other keeper in the league.

Overall, only Sheffield United and Burnley have been breached on fewer occasions than the Swans in the Championship this season.

“The whole team take credit for that but I think the goalkeeper has been incredible, the back four have been incredible,” Williams added.

“Ultimately there’s going to be big headers, big tackles, big saves from those guys and they have been outstanding.”
