Saracens and Scotland star Andy Onyeama-Christie has thanked the public for the support he has been shown since his horror injury on Sunday.

Sarries' match at Harlequins was halted for eight minutes after he suffered an awful ankle injury that left his foot twisted the wrong way. Fellow players had to look away in the immediate aftermath before Onyeama-Christie was applauded off the field.

In a short statement on social media, he said: "Thanks for all the love and support." SIGN UP: Get the new exclusive Inside Welsh rugby newsletter for full insight into what's really going on behind the scenes.

Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall said: “Everybody is gutted for him. It's horrendous. It doesn’t look great, I don’t think.

“I think we’re talking a fracture-dislocation of his ankle, so that’s the big thing today, really, and just so gutted, everybody is.

“He’s had a real tough three years, [with] two broken arms, and for that to happen it’s just horrendous for him, so our thoughts are with him.”

The 25-year-old was stretchered off in just the seventh minute of the match and immediately taken to a London hospital with a suspected fractured and dislocated ankle

Onyeama-Christie made his international debut off the bench in the 2022 Six Nations and has eight caps. He would have had more were it not for two separate broken arm injuries over the past 18 months.
