'No, no!' Woman mortified as Gareth Bale's golf round takes unexpected twist

The Wales and Real Madrid star was one of a number of celebrity participants at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, but was upstaged

Gareth Bale found himself in a spot of bother at the Alfred Dunhill Links Pro Am when a dog ran onto the course and made off with his ball.

The former Real Madrid and Tottenham star was among several high-profile names, including Andy Murray, Ruud Gullit, Kevin Pietersen, Bill Murray and Piers Morgan, playing at St Andrews.

However, it was a local canine that stole the show. As Bale chipped on to the green, the excited dog chased after his ball, picked it up and amusingly returned it to its original spot, much to the amusement of some onlookers.

One mortified woman, perhaps the dog's owner, sounded distraught as she realised what was unfolding, repeatedly shouting "Oh, no, no!".

Bale, who is currently tied 18th on 19 under, was playing alongside Daniel Brown. Belgian Nicholas Colsaerts is leading the pro leaderboard on 14 under, while Scotland's David Law is third and Rory McIlroy is languishing in 49th place.

The Welshman's handicap was recently revealed to be down to scratch - a remarkable achievement that means he's one of the best amateurs around.
