Yankees will be without Anthony Rizzo for ALDS in injury crusher

Anthony Rizzo gave it a shot, but his fractured fingers will not allow him to play in the ALDS.

The Yankees’ veteran first baseman said Friday night he will not be on the ALDS roster after his attempt at hitting and squeezing a glove was not where it needed to be.

Rizzo was confident he would be able to contribute in the ALCS if the Yankees made it there, which would give him 10 more days for his fingers to continue healing.

As for the Yankees’ other big decision on the eve of the ALDS, they were holding it close to their vest.

As of Friday afternoon, manager Aaron Boone said he knew which of Alex Verdugo and Jasson Dominguez would be starting in left field, but he had not yet talked to them so he declined to reveal his decision publicly.
