Willy Adames was ready to fulfill his Jesse Winker parking lot challenge: ‘I was there’

Brewers star SS Willy Adames confirmed he did offer to meet Mets DH/ex-Brewer Jesse Winker in the parking lot to settle differences after an on-field “chirping” match following Winker’s two-run, Game 1 triple.

“I told him that when we were chirping at each other,” Adames told The Post, confirming expert lip reader Jomboy’s fine report.

“I was there [in the lot],” Adames added, saying Winker didn’t show.

Sources tell The Post Winker was upset by Frankie Montas drilling him with a pitch on the backside last Friday. Winker walked away when asked about the incident, saying only, “Why?”

According to Jomboy (and basically confirmed by Adames), Winker, after swearing at the Brewers and seeing Adames looking over, kept repeating, “What you want to do [about it]?” To which Adames replied, “I’ll let you know in the parking lot after the game.”

Adames told The Post, “He just started yelling to me straight up. In the heat of the moment, I’m not going to back down. So we were just chirping. I don’t know what he was mad about.”

The Brewers would love to bring back Adames, who will be a free agent, but understand the odds are long. He’s expected to seek at least $200 million off his 32-homer season.

“I want to come back. I love them, and they love me,” Adames said. “But we can’t control that. We’ll see if they want me.”

The Dodgers made a spirited try to trade for Adames in spring. L.A. plus the Giants and Braves, who’ve also tried for him, are among likely pursuers.
