SIBU (Oct 7): SK Rantau Panjang’s Jackson Larry Fowaro emerged champion in a lantern design competition, held here last Friday in connection with the Mid-Autumn Festival.

His schoolmates Valina Natasha Padatrski and Clofinayana Tyralis Canalies Emban completed the school’s sweep of the contest, placing second and third respectively.

The competition was organised by SJK(C) Kiang Hin’s management board and supported by the Neighbourhood Watch Committee (KRT) of Pasar Teku Sibu and the village security and development committees of Merdeka, Jalan Oya, Jalan Berjaya, Jalan Muhibbah, and Pearl Garden.

On hand to present prizes were Sibu Unity Department assistant officer Mohammad Noridzwan Sawi and SJK(C) Kiang Hin management board chairman Kapitan So Teck Kee.

“The Department of National Unity and Integration always supports and encourages KRTs to organise various programmes and activities, as well as to collaborate with educational institutions in the area.

“Through this effort, together with school leaders, we can ensure that the national heritage is always well-preserved at all times,” said Mohammad Noridzwan.

The prize-presentation ceremony took place at SJK(C) Kiang Hin.

Apart from the top three winners, the other participants also received a trophy and certificate each to acknowledge their efforts and as a form of encouragement.
