Nicolas Jackson final ban decision confirmed as Chelsea handed verdict

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has discovered whether he will be banned after being involved in an incident during the Blues' 1-1 draw against Nottingham forest

Nicolas Jackson has escaped a ban despite being involved in events which saw Chelsea and Nottingham Forest being charged by the FA for failing to control their players.

The Blues drew 1-1 against Forest on Sunday at Stamford Bridge. Chris Wood's early second-half goal was cancelled out by Noni Madueke's strike.

And Jackson, who had been on the pitch for 81 minutes before being substituted, appeared to swipe at Morato's face during a scuffle involving both teams' benches, which was triggered by Neco Williams' shove on Marc Cucurella. The VAR reviewed the incident and decided that it did not meet the criteria for violent conduct.

The FA have now confirmed on Tuesday that Jackson won't face retrospective action. It means he will avoid a ban, although the Blues face a potential fine after being charged.

A statement from the FA said: “It is alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 88th minute.”

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca said he was happy to see his team “fighting together” and insisted he was not worried his side had a problem with their discipline.

“For sure, there are things that we can control and do better, and probably this is one of the things. But the way they are fighting together, the way they are doing things together, I’m very happy,” he said.

The Blues return to action after the international break against Liverpool on Sunday, October 20 (kick-off: 4:30pm).
