Inter vs Arsenal Champions League score predicted as late drama unfolds

by · football.london

After falling to defeat on the weekend, Arsenal will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on Inter in the Champions League later today.

Alexander Isak's first-half strike was the only goal of the game as Arsenal lost 1-0 to Newcastle in their last outing, making it three games in a row without a win in the Premier League for the Gunners. The result left Mikel Arteta's side seven points off top spot in the league table with a tough trip to Chelsea up next, but for now, attention turns back to the Champions League.

Arsenal beat Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0 in their last Champions League outing, with the Gunners having picked up seven points from nine so far. Italian side Inter have the same record, with both teams yet to concede a goal in the Champions League ahead of their clash at the San Siro later today.

So, can Arsenal continue their unbeaten start to the Champions League campaign? Let's take a look.

We simulated Inter vs Arsenal to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that the hosts could line up in a 3-5-2 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Sommer; Pavard, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Martinez, Taremi.

We predict that Arsenal could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber; Jorginho, Partey, Merino; Saka, Havertz, Martinelli.

Arsenal started on the back foot in Milan, and after a period of early dominance, the hosts put themselves ahead when Nicolo Barella drilled a shot into the far corner from just outside the box. Behind at half-time, the Gunners had work to do, but just nine minutes after the restart, things went from bad to worse for Arteta's side.

A calamity at the back saw Arsenal fail to clear an Inter corner on two attempts, with Gabriel slicing the ball to Lautaro Martinez. The Argentine's shot from close range was parried back into the box by David Raya, and Marcus Thuram was quickest to react to the loose ball, blasting a strike into the top corner to make it 2-0.

With six minutes to go, Arsenal managed to pull a goal back and restore some hope when Gabriel made up for his earlier error, with the Brazilian leaping highest to head in a corner at the near post. All of a sudden, the Gunners were in full control, and in the 91st minute, they managed to draw level.

Mikel Merino intercepted a pass inside Arsenal's half to kick-start a counterattack for the Gunners. The Spaniard found Kai Havertz who sent the ball out wide to Bukayo Saka, and a first-time cross into the box from the Englishman picked out Gabriel Martinelli, with the winger poking past the 'keeper to equalise late on.

With momentum on their side, Arsenal pushed on for a winner, but they had left it too late, with the Gunners settling for a point at the San Siro.

EA FC 25 predicted final score: Inter 2-2 Arsenal
