Is David Raya fit to start for Arsenal vs Leicester? Injury news latest and FPL update
Arsenal could be without goalkeeper David Raya for Saturday's match against Leicester City
by Sam Truelove · football.londonDavid Raya faces a race against time to be fit for Arsenal's Premier League clash with Leicester City at the weekend.
The Gunners No.1 missed the Carabao Cup third round victory over Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday with a thigh injury. It had been hoped the Spaniard would return in time for the clash against Leicester, but Neto remains on standby to make his debut should Raya not be available.
With Arsenal unbeaten so far this season, Raya has been in sensational form and has made some incredible saves on that run. While the north Londoners are favourites against Leicester, if Raya were to miss the clash it would be a big blow for Mikel Arteta. With that said, football.london takes a look at whether Raya will be fit enough to feature for Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.
What has been said?
Arteta was first asked about Raya's injury on Wednesday evening, after watching his side beat Bolton 5-1 with 16-year-old Jack Porter in goal. "We don't know yet," Arteta said when asked if the former Brentford man would be fit enough for the weekend. "He's got a muscular injury, yes."
Arteta provided a little more information when he was asked about Raya's injury yet again during Friday afternoon's pre-match press conference ahead of Leicester. "We have to wait another 24 hours," the Gunners boss said. "We have to wait 24 hours to see if it’s looking good or not that good."

Asked whether Raya will be risked ahead of Tuesday's Champions League clash against PSG, Arteta said: "It’s not about a risk, it’s about a player being fit and available or not. When we have that clarity for Leicester, which is the main thing we’re thinking about at the moment, we will make that decision tomorrow." Later, when asked if Raya was a doubt for Saturday, Arteta admitted: "Yes. Sure."
Will Raya be fit to face Leicester in FPL Gameweek 6?
Many Fantasy Premier League managers will be hoping Raya (£5.6million) is fit enough to start for Arsenal against Leicester City. The goalkeeper is owned by 31.6% of managers and already has 33 FPL points.
With Arsenal facing Leicester, Southampton and Bournemouth in their next three league fixtures, lots of FPL managers have been transferring Raya into their squads. So far, more than 400,000 managers have transferred Raya in ahead of the Gameweek 6 deadline.
According to the FPL website, the goalkeeper has a 75% chance of being fit for the Leicester match, with the 29-year-old currently yellow flagged due to a muscle injury. Neto (£4.3million) could make his Arsenal debut if Raya is not fit enough to make the squad.
