Supercomputer's final Premier League table sees Arsenal title race go down to goal difference

Arsenal are in for their most agonising season to date as Mikel Arteta's side are slated to lose the Premier League crown on goal difference.

That's according to a new supercomputer prediction, via JeffBet (h/t The Mirror), which suggests Manchester City will just about maintain their era of dominance in English football. The artificial intelligence has crunched the numbers and projected Arsenal will once again fall short of the title - except this time by the slimmest margin possible.

Having finished as runners-up to Pep Guardiola's side by a combined seven points across the past two campaigns, the Gunners' spell as second fiddle seemingly isn't over. Both City and Arsenal are predicted to end the season with 95 points each, but the former are tipped to keep the trophy thanks to their proficiency in attack.

According to the AI, both teams will concede an identical total of 41 goals this term. But it's City's superior strike rate of 98 goals (compared to Arsenal's 89) that will dictate the title destination.

That eventuality would come as an extreme frustration to the many Arsenal supporters who wished to see a new striker arrive in the summer. It's been suggested Erling Haaland may be the difference between City hanging onto the English crown, and these latest figures would suggest that's accurate.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are projected to establish a new record low and finish 12th, surpassing last season's worst-ever Premier League eighth-place result. Despite the Red Devils' excitement following the appointment of Ruben Amorim as Erik ten Hag's successor, the AI oracle predicts they'll finish level on 50 points with West Ham, who will settle for unlucky 13th.

The news is slightly rosier for projected fourth-place finishers Chelsea, who might be content with 76 points in Enzo Maresca's debut season. The Blues have enjoyed a bump in form to start this season and could lock down a Champions League place if the predictions prove accurate.

The news isn't quite as cheery for Tottenham, however, as Spurs are slated to bring up the rear among London's bigger players. Ange Postecoglou's up-and-down start to the season has been tipped to result in an eighth-place finish, which could preclude Tottenham from playing in Europe next term.
