A day after making his third senior Chelsea appearance as a late substitute in the Europa Conference League group stage game against Gent, Tyrique George carried that confidence into the under 21's Premier League 2 match at Fulham on Friday.

George, 18, started the match at Motspur Park and set up the opening goal before scoring the second to double their advantage in six second-half minutes. The terrific touch and pass into the path of Donnell McNeilly was the teenager's third assist in six league matches.

His first two, both finished by Jimmy-Jay Morgan, came in their first win of the season away at Middlesborough at the start of September. A month later, his two goal contributions again set the side on course for second-league success.

Between those two games, George helped himself to a hattrick against Brentford in the Premier League Cup, scoring the equaliser and go-ahead goal before adding his third, and Chelsea's sixth, to conclude the scoring late on. The teenager is now up to four goals and three assists across five matches at under-21 level.

George also scored in September against Croatia for the England under-19s after stepping up from the under-18s this season to make three appearances last month. That is the same number of times Blues head coach Enzo Maresca has entrusted the winger to feature for the first team this season. After debuting away in Switzerland during the second leg of the Conference League play-off round tie versus Servette, two cameos within a week have followed at Stamford Bridge against Barrow in the Carabao Cup third round and Gent.

The latest two appearances came after George made an immediate impression on Maresca. "I think he was good," the Blues coach said. "I was very happy for him to make his debut.

"The most important thing is he was not shy because he played with personality. This is important for a young player."
