Scottie Scheffler, the world's No. 1 golfer, found humour in his brief stint in jail earlier this year after being arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer with his vehicle, along with three misdemeanors.

The arrest occurred in Louisville during the PGA Championship. However, all four charges against Scheffler were later dropped when the prosecutor confirmed that the American's claim of a misunderstanding with traffic-directing police was "corroborated by the evidence."

Despite his arrest, Scheffler went on to secure victories in three PGA Tour tournaments, including the Tour Championship. He also clinched Olympic gold in Paris, making his 2024 one of the most successful years in golf.

Now, he's representing Team USA in the Presidents Cup against Team International in Montreal, and Scheffler shared some new insights about his jail experience when quizzed by a fan.

"Jail is kinda boring to be honest with you. I needed something to do," Scheffler admitted. When asked by a fan if he was alone in the cell, Scheffler confirmed, "Yeah, I was alone,", reports the Mirror US.

"'Sorry guys I got to tee off in an hour,'" another fan joked. Recalling his time in jail, Scheffler said, "One of the guys in the jail, the first guy, a police officer who knew who I was, literally walked up in disbelief going 'What the heck did you do? ' I was like 'I dunno'."

Scheffler has been instrumental in Team USA's strong start, leading 5-0. However, he had a tense encounter with Tom Kim on the seventh hole when Kim loudly celebrated a crucial birdie putt, leading to a confrontation.

The tension continued onto the eighth hole. Kim managed to sink a long birdie putt and controversially moved onto the ninth before Scheffler even attempted his putt.

"They took gamesmanship too far and over the line on sportsmanship and lose some integrity," US assistant captain Kevin Kisner commented, as reported by Golf Channel.

"I thought it was pretty bush league and I told Camilo that if that's the way they want to play, then game on. If you can ---- off my No. 1 player in the world, then I'm all for it."

Despite the incident, Kim and Scheffler insisted there's no bad blood between them. They're still mates.

Kim stated: "It wasn't trying to be cheap or do anything like that. We were focused on our own game. He's (Scheffler) a good friend. But at the same time, this week I don't like him. I want to beat him so bad, and I'm sure he feels the same way."

Scheffler echoed: "I would have done the same thing back at home. It's all in good fun. We're friends after. We're not friends during."
